I’m often asked if I can make you cluck like a chicken or bark like a dog and my response is “only if you want to.” I’m also asked if I can make “my husband/wife/child or another person” do something and my response is always no. I can’t “make” anyone do anything unless they want to do it. Sometimes I wish hypnosis was like that commercial where the guy has people doing all his work for him because he’s hypnotized them, but it doesn’t work that way!
General Information
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses guided relaxation, focused attention, and deep concentration to achieve a heightened state of awareness—often referred to as a trance. In this state, you can access your subconscious mind more easily and work through limiting beliefs, habits, or emotions.
Is hypnosis the same as being asleep?
No. Hypnosis is not sleep. It’s a state of deep focus and relaxation where your body feels calm, but your mind is alert and receptive. You’re always in control and aware of what’s happening around you.
Can anyone be hypnotized?
Most people can be hypnotized if they are open to the process and willing to follow guidance. It’s a natural state that we all experience—like when you’re lost in a movie or deep in thought while driving.
Will I lose control during hypnosis?
No. You cannot be made to do anything against your will. Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process—you are always in control. You will remember everything that’s important, and your subconscious mind will reject any suggestion that doesn’t align with your values.
What can hypnotherapy help with?
Hypnotherapy can be effective for:
- Anxiety and stress reduction
- Overcoming fears and phobias
- Boosting confidence and motivation
- Breaking unwanted habits (like smoking or nail-biting)
- Sleep issues and insomnia
- Emotional healing and trauma
- Performance enhancement (for athletes, public speakers, actors, etc.)
- Weight management
- And much more
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your goals and the issue being addressed. Some people see results in just 1–3 sessions, while others benefit from a series over several weeks. We’ll discuss a personalized plan during your consultation.
What does a hypnotherapy session look like?
Each session typically begins with a brief conversation to discuss your goals. Then, you’ll be guided into a relaxed state and receive customized suggestions or therapeutic techniques tailored to your needs. The session usually lasts 45–90 minutes.
Is hypnotherapy safe?
Yes. Hypnotherapy is a safe, natural, and effective approach when practiced by a trained professional. It’s non-invasive, drug-free, and often complements other forms of therapy or medical treatment.
Will I remember what happens in the session?
Most people remember everything that happens during a hypnotherapy session. Some may feel like time passed quickly or have a dreamlike recall, but you are never unconscious or unaware.
Can hypnotherapy replace traditional therapy?
Hypnotherapy can be a powerful complement to traditional therapy but should not replace medical or psychiatric care when those are needed. Always consult with your healthcare provider for serious mental health or medical conditions.
How should I prepare for my first session?
- Come with an open mind and a clear goal
- Wear comfortable clothing
- Bring Water
- Avoid heavy meals or stimulants right before the session
- Be on time and try to relax
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. I have been practicing Hypnotherapy virtually since 2013. Hypnotherapy can be just as effective over Zoom or other secure video platforms. All you need is a quiet, comfortable space and a stable internet connection.

Hypnotherapy FAQ for Peak Performers
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a results-driven method that helps high performers break through mental blocks, overcome anxiety, sharpen focus, and unlock their full potential. It uses a relaxed yet highly alert state (trance) to access the subconscious mind—where lasting behavioral change happens.
Is this like stage hypnosis?
No. Hypnotherapy is not entertainment—it’s a focused, evidence-informed practice designed to help you optimize your mindset. You’ll never be asked to do anything silly or against your will. This is professional, purpose-driven mental performance work.
How can hypnotherapy improve performance?
Hypnotherapy helps you:
- Eliminate performance anxiety or stage fright
- Enhance confidence under pressure
- Improve concentration and mental clarity
- Develop laser-sharp focus
- Break habits that interfere with peak performance
- Reinforce a winning mindset and self-belief
- Bounce back quickly from setbacks
Whether you’re an actor, athlete, executive, pilot, or public speaker—hypnotherapy can help you perform at your best when it matters most.
Will I be in control during hypnosis?
Yes. You remain fully in control. Hypnosis is a cooperative state of deep focus—not mind control. You can accept or reject any suggestion. You’re aware and engaged throughout the process.
Will it feel like I’m asleep?
No. You’ll be deeply relaxed, but mentally alert and focused—similar to being in “the zone” or a flow state. It’s a natural and familiar state that high performers often tap into without even realizing it.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your goals and how deep the issue runs. Some people experience major shifts in just 1–3 sessions. For deeper transformation or skill-building, we may schedule a short-term series of sessions. Each plan is tailored to your performance goals.
What happens in a session?
You’ll start by defining a clear, measurable goal. Then I’ll guide you into a relaxed state and use customized techniques to reprogram limiting patterns, boost confidence, and activate your peak state. Sessions typically last 60–90 minutes and are confidential and results-focused.
Can hypnotherapy help me get into flow?
Absolutely. Hypnotherapy is one of the most effective tools for training your mind to access the flow state—on demand. You’ll learn how to bypass mental chatter, override self-doubt, and perform with calm, confident intensity.
Is hypnotherapy safe?
Yes. Hypnotherapy is a safe and powerful modality when practiced by a certified professional. It’s non-invasive, drug-free, and designed to support long-term performance growth.
Do I need to have experience with hypnosis or meditation?
Not at all. Many first-timers are surprised how easy and natural the process feels. No experience is necessary—just a clear goal and a willingness to engage in the process.
Can I do sessions online?
Yes. Virtual sessions are available and highly effective for performance work. All you need is a quiet space, a good internet connection, and a clear goal. Remote clients achieve the same outcomes as in-person.

High Achievers Who Use Visualization to Succeed
1. Jim Carrey (Actor & Comedian)
Jim Carrey famously wrote himself a $10 million check for “acting services rendered” and dated it for Thanksgiving 1995. He visualized being successful every day—and just before the date he set, he was cast in Dumb and Dumber for $10 million.
“You can’t just visualize and then go eat a sandwich. Visualization works if you work hard. That’s the thing. You can’t just visualize and go, ‘Well, I’m gonna open my eyes now and it’s all gonna be there.’ You have to work at it.”
2. Michael Phelps (Olympic Swimmer)
Phelps’ coach Bob Bowman taught him to “watch the tape” of his perfect race in his mind every night before bed and every morning. He rehearsed everything—including how he’d handle problems like his goggles filling with water (which actually happened in the Olympics, and he still won gold).
3. Oprah Winfrey (Media Mogul)
Oprah has openly talked about using visualization, intention setting, and the law of attraction to achieve her success. She often credits her ability to see and feel her future in her mind before it happens.
4. Arnold Schwarzenegger (Bodybuilder, Actor, Governor)
Arnold used visualization extensively in bodybuilding and later in acting. He visualized his muscles growing like balloons with every rep, and he saw himself already achieving his goals long before they became real.
5. Serena Williams (Tennis Champion)
Serena has used visualization and mental rehearsal throughout her tennis career. She often sees herself executing specific plays, handling pressure, and winning matches before she steps on the court.
6. Will Smith (Actor)
Will Smith has spoken about the power of belief and mental visualization in multiple interviews, explaining that creating something mentally is the first step toward bringing it into reality.
7. Tiger Woods (Pro Golfer)
Tiger started practicing visualization techniques as a child. He imagines every stroke before he makes it—seeing the ball’s path, landing, and roll in vivid detail.
8. Lady Gaga (Musician & Actress)
Gaga has credited visualization and affirmations for much of her success. Early in her career, she would say out loud:
“Music is my life. The fame is inside of me. I’m going to make a number one record.”
She visualized every part of her career—even before she had an album deal.
9. Conor McGregor (UFC Champion)
McGregor is a vocal advocate for visualization and mental imagery. He has spoken about visualizing exact punches, post-fight celebrations, and even his checks—long before they became reality.
10. Tony Robbins (Coach & Author)
Robbins teaches visualization as essential to peak state and goal achievement. He uses mental imagery and future pacing with top athletes and business leaders.
11. Lindsey Vonn (Olympic Ski Champion)
Lindsey is known for meticulous mental rehearsal. She visualized every ski run in real-time, in full gear—even mimicking her body’s motions before race day.
“I mentally rehearse the course over and over again until I know every bump, every turn, every transition.”
If your job or certification depends on consistent, high-level performance, visualization is not optional—it’s an edge.
